TIMELINE - PATCHWORK HEROES
From past to present, this is a list
of the order of every major event important to the comic. Please note that the
timeline uses the standard Artannic calender, which is not the same calender used
in other parts of the world. The Artannic calender dates itself from the Year
of Malan. Malan was the first prophet of Alarism, and 1 YM is the year that Alarism
was officially 'recovered' in Artannia. By constast, the other major nations of
the world use very different calenders, although all have the same year length.
Murosh dates itself from the founding of its empire, appropriately enough, and
Dornkirk dates itself from the founding of its first city.
Approx. -800 YM: The ancient magical empire of Karlhanen collapses into ruin. The exact cause of this remains uncertain, but it is known to involve the Incarna. According to the Alarists, the magi of Karlhanen created the Incarna as demonic weapons, and were destroyed when the Incarna, uncontrollable and utterly evil, turned on them. According to the Dualists, the Incarna were the lords of Karlhanen, and their arrogance destroyed it. According to the Cyclists, the Incarna were wise and benevolent rulers, and Karlhanen fell when they were betrayed and defeated by other magic. Regardless, the fall of Karlhanen set back technology by nearly a thousand years, and was the beginning of the slow decline of magic.
Approx. -200 YM: Alaris, a wise man and prophet, gathered a number of people together, teaching them that their pain was due to the hubris of mankind. He set them on the path that would later become Alarism.
1 YM: Malan appears in
the area that would become Western Artannia, spreading the word of Alaris (with
his own additions and modifications). Through him, Alarism begins to spread as
an established religion, displacing Dualism and local animistic religions. It
is primarily popular among humans and djinn.
281 YM: Founding of
the city of Dornkirk, surrounding the mystical Orb of Flame.
872 YM:
Founding of the Kingdom of Artannia.
1007 YM: First appearance of the Emperor of Murosh and his Seven Furies. The Emperor slowly begins absorbing neighbouring nations into Murosh.
1189 YM: Frightened by the continuing expansion of Murosh, a number of minor kingdoms begin seeking the relative safety of being part of a stable empire without being conquered, joining forces under the Kingdom of Artannia. Others join with the stable city-state of Dornkirk and form the Dornkirk League in the same year.
1396 YM: Birth of Emperor Delemonte XIV.
1406 YM: Birth of Ellen Naven.
1409 YM: Birth of Warren Hejan.
1410 YM: Birth of Maxwell Cutley. Birth of Shari Kalahann.
1411 YM: Birth of Friv Tarnson.
1425 YM: Perinas Gaebor becomes Fury of Fear.
1426 YM: Garanor Lydal becomes Fury of Deception. Maxwell Cutley changes his name to Kasaii Weaver and leaves his home.
1428 YM: Salamon Keele becomes Fury of Greed. Kasaii Weaver and Friv Tarnson meet for the first time. Shari Kalahan gets married.
1429 YM: Death of Malik Hunt. Zaym Renard becomes Fury of Arrogance.
1431 YM: Death of Riana Jaipur. Ellen Naven becomes Elaida Nazeran, Fury of Wrath.
1432 YM: Destruction of the Kalahan tribe.
1433 YM: Deaths of Zaym Renard and Marius Kayd. Asural Minth becomes Fury of Arrogance, and Tikara Randelle becomes Fury of Lust.
1434 YM: Death of Selena Frenan. Warren Hejan becomes Verinth Karsalas, Fury of Envy. Death of Heyal Hejan.
1435 YM: The events of Patchwork Heroes (other than flashbacks) take place in this year.
1436 YM: Founding of the Cianna Academy for Magic; end of the Muroshi Expansion.
1475 YM: Artannic raid on the Cianna Academy begins the Ciannan War.
1477 YM: Birth of Jonathan Cutley.
1478 YM: Official end of the Ciannan War; Artannia and Murosh each claim victory. Birth of Patrick O'Donoghue and Mattie Arbour.
1479 YM: Birth of Adele Tanner, Daniel Kildaire, and Marsten St. Adar.
1481 YM: Birth of Kalak Mendai.
1497 YM: Patchwork Heroes: Order of Thorns begins.
1500 YM: Events of the Order of Thorns prologue.
