Patchwork Heroes Plot Summary

The following is a summary of Patchwork Heroes to date. If, for whatever reason, you find the archives daunting, this is where to go.
Please note: These summaries are VERY to-the-point. You're only going to get the most basic plot.
I will update this summary at the end of each scene.

ACT I - REBIRTH

Scene 1 - Friv's Cave

While out for a stroll, Friv, a half-yeti outcast, trips over the body of a swordswoman lying in the snow. Taking her back to his home, he gets her some food and warmth. Shortly afterwards, Friv's friend Kasaii Weaver, a spirit magus, shows up, telling Friv that a lot of adventurers are going to be combing the mountain for the Water Orb that lies near the top, in order to stop a massive drought, and incidentally get 20,000 Soverigns. Kasaii convinces Friv to join him on his journey to find the Oracle, a mysterious being who can answer any one question from each person who visits it. We also learn that the swordswoman's name is Dana.

Scene 2 - From Shenir to Altair

On their way to the nearest town from Friv's home, the group encounters Lucas, a friend of Dana's, who mistakes Friv for a monster. After Dana beats the crap out of Lucas, we learn that she has amnesia. She decides to go to the Oracle as well. Lucas tags along, because he's after the Water Orb and Kasaii convinces him that the Oracle will tell them how to get the Orb out of its icy prison.
In Shenir, it is discovered that the Furies, champions of the Empire of Murosh, are seeking Dana for reasons unknown. Although worried, the group decides that they'll just have to be careful. Friv also buys a mask so that he can pass among full humans without them getting scared. We also learn from the Furies that Asural Minth, Fury of Arrogance, and Salamon Keele, Fury of Greed, are trying to kill Dana.

Scene 3 - Altairible

Reaching Altair, Kasaii goes to resupply, while the rest of the group heads for an inn Kasaii knows. It turns out that the inn has changed hands, and the new owner is a bastard. Things fall apart in the inn when the barmaid, Shari, accidentally pulls off Friv's mask. Meanwhile, Kasaii meets an old friend, Alanna, who warns him to stay away from Lucas, saying that he's a trouble magnet. Back at the inn, Shari comes upstairs to apologize to Friv, and gives him a quick kiss.
The next day, the group leaves. The barkeep and Shari get in a fight, and she quits, following the group and asking to come with them. After some debate, they agree.
Finally, Alanna turns out to be Tikara Randelle, Fury of Lust. With some reluctance, she tells Asural where the group is going, and asks him not to kill Kasaii.

Scene 4 - Fury's Pride

While travelling, the group is overtaken by Asural, who blasts Lucas a good distance away, and then reveals his rather impressive ability to turn a person's doubts against them, paralysing them with self-loathing. Of the group, only Kasaii is able to resist, using his Spirit magic to defend himself. Kasaii manages to control Asural enough to stop him from moving, but Asural blasts him anyway. This shakes Dana out of her doubt, and she transforms into a Fury and nearly kills Asural, who barely escapes.
Meanwhile, Verinth, the Fury of Envy, attempts to kill Lucas. Demonstrating an impressive mastery of illusion, Lucas kills Verinth, and then disguises it before anyone finds him. Asural, dying, is saved by Tikara, and the two flee to safety. The group finds Kasaii unconsious, and takes him to the nearest town. Finally, we learn that Salamon was hoping for Asural to fail in his mission, and die.

Scene 5 - Ascending Descent

Kasaii learns that the Furies are enslaving some being to gain their power. Shari and Friv discuss their pasts with each other, and reveal their love for each other. Kasaii goes to tell Dana that he loves her, but almost walks in on her telling Lucas that she loves him. Lucas loves Dana too. Kasaii is sad.
Going to the Oracle's cave, the group meets it, and learns that it is a 2000 year old technomagical relic. The Oracle gives Kasaii the knowledge of how to get the Water Orb, and then gives Dana her memories. Overwhelmed by the knowledge that she is Elaida, Fury of Wrath, she snaps. First she tries to kill Lucas, who turns out to be Garanor Lydal, Fury of Deception, and then attempts suicide. The act closes.

ACT II - LOST AND FOUND

Scene 1 - Forgotten Truths

Kasaii and Friv ask their questions of the Oracle, and receive answers. Shari stays behind as the group leaves, and reveals that she's working with the Oracle as part of some group. She takes the Spirit Orb from the Oracle, who goes offline. We learn that the source of the Furies' power is the Void Orb, which may be the key to releasing an Incarna. The Incarna of Spirit heads off the conversation, making everyone forget about it, which worries Shari. So she makes Shari forget too.
Returning to Dernel, we meet Darren Cutley, an old friend of Kasaii who is secretly Kasaii's brother. Darren's knights don't trust Kasaii, Dana, Friv, or Shari, but they keep their suspicions secret.

Scene 2 - Fury's Greed

Switching to the Furies' home, we learn that Garanor is starting to go insane, and that Salamon and Perinas are playing a deeper game, trying to get other Furies killed. Garanor confronts Asural, and decides that he's not part of the plot. After a rather argumentative meeting, the Furies agree to give Garanor one more shot at bringing Elaida back into the fold. Garanor tricks Salamon into confessing to his part of the plan, and then reveals that Perinas has gone insane. The two hatch a plan to destroy Perinas, who thinks that he's going to kill Elaida and Garanor. The emperor sends Asural and Jeremar on an unknown quest. Finally, we discover that Salamon is actually helping the Incarna of Rebirth, and working against the Furies.

Scene 3 - Memories of Love

Dana, practicing, starts to push herself into her Fury powers, and is stopped by Kasaii. However, a child spots the two without them spotting her. The group discovers that their goals lie in two different directions, and temporarily split up (thanks in part to the Incarna of Thought). Friv and Shari head south to Remenn, while Kasaii and Dana push on westwards into Murosh. Friv and Shari, reaching Remenn, talk to Friv's mother, and learn that she married someone who Shari considered to be a father-figure. We also learn that Shari was in love with his son, who became Verinth, Fury of Envy (and later died). We also learn that Shari is the Paladin of Thought. Friv and Shari plan to climb the nearby mountain to meet Friv's father. Meanwhile, Dana and Kasaii meet Dana's old family, and Kasaii begins to fall for Rosa, Dana's cousin. Lucas confronts Dana, warning her that the Furies are in town and playing a dangerous game. At the end of the scene, we learn that Asural and Jeremar are in Remenn, climbing the same mountain to steal the Earth Orb, and that the Artannic knights are heading to Cianna to defeat Dana. Finally, we learn that Salamon is planning to betray even the Incarna.
