PATCHWORK
HEROES FAQ
Right. I haven't actually been asked most of these questions, but I hope to be. Or, more precisely, I hope not to be, since I've already answered them. If you have a question not covered here, ask it in the forum or by email, and I'll do my best to answer.
And now, without further ado, the Patchwork Heroes FAQ!
Q: Why is the comic called Patchwork Heroes?
A: Well, there's a few reasons. The main one is that all the characters in this
comic are inherently flawed. As I note in my first comic, none of them are perfect,
shiny, and new. Each has his or her own agenda and purpose, and, as you will see,
they don't always mesh. The second reason is that a lot of these characters emphasize
things about myself, especially Kasaii and Friv. They also have parts of friends
and family in them, making them a sort of patchwork of other people. The third
reason is that, when I made the sprites, I patched together other ones! ;-) And
you'll have to wait to learn the fourth.
Q: So, why a sprite comic? Can't
you draw normally?
A: Well, no. See, I have an artistic mind. I can visualize
a lot of things. However, when I try to put my ideas down on paper, I'm invariably
disappointed, and usually shriek in pain and fear. I'm not joking - I'm the only
person I know who FAILED grade 7 Art. However, I have a story here that I wanted
to tell, and I'd like to think that I'm not bad on the writing front. So I thought,
why not do a sprite comic? I don't have to draw sprites, and my artistic skills
(or lack thereof) are suited to modification of sprites.
Q: How long is
the comic going to be?
A: Three acts. I'm guessing it'll wind up sometime around
the late spring / early summer of 2005. After that, there will be a sequel comic
using original spirtes, ideally.
